GOOD LOVELIES CHRISTMAS 2019
Dec 13. Still merry after all these years, Good Lovelies return to the Algonquin Theatre with their 13th annual Christmas tour. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Good Lovelies highly popular Christmas album “Under The Mistletoe.” To celebrate, the trio will be releasing “Evergreen”, a new collection of seasonal favourites, classic carols and original Christmas songs.

Dec 14. Join the Huntsville Festival for this hilarious family friendly production of the holiday classic presented by Dufflebag Theatre. From Fezziwig to Tiny Tim, all the favorites are included in this exuberant version of the Charles Dickens Yuletide classic!
SATURDAY SESSIONS AT LAKE OF BAYS BREWERY
Lake of Bays Brewery presents a new season of Saturday Sessions, concerts inside the brewery in Baysville. Petra – Baysville’s own father daughter duo, Peter and Laura Harbocian – host 11 sessions this winter, from 1-4:30 on Saturdays. With acoustic music with guitars, djembe, washboard and just the right harmonies, Petra perform acoustic music from every decade of the last half century and play at every session. They will also present three new acoustic acts at every session.
KYUNG-A LEE – CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Dec 14. The Muskoka Concert Association is pleased to present Kyung-A Lee. This incredible local pianist has a burning passion for music which has taken her around the world, playing for international audiences. This young artist is extremely in demand and we are extremely happy to welcome her to the Gravenhurst Opera House.

With the discerning shopper in mind, the organizers have gathered together some of their favourite creators from Muskoka and beyond. A PORTAGE FLYER CHRISTMAS – EVENING TRAIN RIDE TO SANTA
Dec 21. See Santa the old fashioned way, aboard a classic steam train at Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville. 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (last train leaves at 7:30 pm). Parking at the Huntsville High School, Canada Summit Centre, Active Living Centre or directly across the street from the event. No advance ticket sales or reserve seating. Arrive and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies (while supplies last) and purchase your tickets enroute to boarding.
Dec 24. An annual family-friendly favorite, the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade at Hidden Valley can be viewed from the Chalet or the base of the Flying Dutchman. Watch our Snow School instructors and Ski Patrolers descend the Flying Dutchman carrying brightly lit torches in a beautiful procession of lights. Santa even joins in the Parade (you didn’t know he could ski, did you?). Join us for hot chocolate and cookies in the Chalet from 5:00-6:00pm. The Parade begins at 6:00 pm sharp. No Night Operations on Christmas Eve.

Fleetwood Nicks portrays Fleetwood Mac with incredible authenticity. And every performance of Practically Petty is true to the spirit and essence of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. ZOO TO YOU – ED-ZOO-CATION
Jan 4-5. Exotic animals at the Muskoka Discovery Centre in Gravenhurst, presented by experienced and knowledgeable handlers from 10 am to 4 pm. The handlers will bring our animals out of their secure temporary enclosures on a rotation to allow time for you to interact and be educated at the same time about these amazing creatures. Zoo To You’s animals are very well-socialized and acclimated to the noise and commotion during these types of events. Regular Admission to MDC applies or if you are a Kidzone Pass Holder admission is included in your pass.

Jan 11. All the vendors you will need to make you special day perfect! Guests will be treated to food & beverage sampling, door prizes, and more at the Muskoka Discovery Centre. Tickets are $10 at the door.
BANFF MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL
Jan 20- 22 Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world. TAYLOR CUP POND HOCKEY
Jan 24-25. A two-day round robin tournament with playoffs, that takes hockey back to the basics … on a frozen patch of lake. Teams take to the ice at the Bayview Wildwood Resort on Sparrow Lake, just north of Orillia, in a 4 on 4 format. The money raised will benefit Sarcoma Research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Each team member must raise a minimum of $100 toward their team’s fundraising minimum of $1000 . Men’s, women’s and co-ed divisions. All skill levels welcome!
BRACEBRIDGE FIRE AND ICE FESTIVAL
Jan 25. A unique approach to a traditional winter carnival. “FIRE” features will include fire artists, fireworks at 7pm as well as fire pits throughout Downtown Bracebridge. “ICE” features will include interactive ice displays, the legendary downtown tube run, a skating trail located in Memorial Park and a new crockicurl game rink! Additionally, there will be “try-it-out” activities, traditional carnival games, and live music to complement the event. New this year, The Great Canadian Lumberjack Show will be providing hours of axe throwing, wood chopping, and cross-cut sawing entertainment.

Jan 25. Rant Maggie Rant brings an arsenal of instruments, styles and substance to their shows with versatility and virtuosity. The Stratford, Ontario band’s personality shines through as a collective of six very unique and different artists in their own right, the sum of which create unforgettable moments on stage. Jan 26. This is a classic-style cross-country ski event on the trails at Arrowhead Park, just outside Huntsville. The distances are 5, 15 and 30 km. Pre-registration necessary.

GRANT TINGEY & HIRED GUN
Feb 1. Muskoka grown singer, songwriter Grant Tingey says his love of music came from within his family and at the age of 15, he really started taking singing seriously and later tried his hand at songwriting. In 1992 he was named Top Male Open Vocalist at the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest and returned in 2000 and won first prize in the songwriting category. He ventured off to Europe where he performed at various festivals and plays in Muskoka on a regular basis. This show at the Gravenhurst Opera House is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Grant’s father Sheldon Tingey.
SPARROW LAKE CUP – OVAL SNOWMOBILE RACES
Feb 1-2. Vintage snowmobiles racing around an ice oval on Sparrow Lake. Events start at 10am. Free entry to the races if you bring a sled for the vintage snowmobile show. All sleds from 1990 and older are welcome. A display sled can also do parade laps,(with helmet and waiver singed). Come on out to Bayview Wildwood Resort for great racing and some beautiful displays!
