CRANBERRY HARVEST
Until October 31 (approximately). More than 300,000 pounds of berries are harvested at Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh in Bala. Daily bog to bottle tours, wine tastings, goodies at the Cranberry Café (open to October 15), trails to hike and more. www.cranberry.ca

THE GRAPES OF WRATH

SEASONS: PHOTOGRAPHS FROM MUSKOKA & BEYOND
Oct 13 to Nov 10. Seasons not only reflects on the environmental changes associated with the earth’s orbit around the sun and its axial tilt relative to the ecliptic plane, but also acts as a narrative on subjects which draw the attention, passion and vision captured by photographers from Muskoka. Through their eyes, and thus the lens, these individuals see and record images that create a range of reactions from the viewer. Photography is “writing with light”, capturing a moment in time forever. Explore and experience these stories of colour and emotion. Chapel Gallery, Bracebridge.

THE 5TH ANNUAL MUSKOKA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
Oct 18 to 20. MIFF is open to all genres and formats: full-length features, shorts, documentaries, and animation. I & I WITH NICOLE LISA CRAIG
Saturday Oct 19. Nicole Lisa Craig is a compassionate musician who lends her angelic voice to entertain, inspire, and lift people to a better state of mind. Her performances feature ethereal vocals and smooth guitar picking, blending elements of Indie Folk, New Age, Classical, and Alternative. BRETT KISSEL LIVE AT DEERHURST RESORT

CHEF ROGER MOOKING CULINARY WEEKEND
Oct 26 to 28. Roger Mooking is a Trinidadian born, Canadian-raised chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, musician, and host of the popular television series Man Fire Food where he enjoys finding inventive ways to cook with fire. And cooking isn’t his only talent – Mooking’s band Bass Is Base received a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording and in 2018 won a Classic Award for their song Funkmobile! Now Chef Roger Mooking is bringing his culinary expertise to Deerhurst for a weekend full of fun, food and lots of flavour.

LET THE SPIRITS RISE IN DOWNTOWN GRAVENHURST
Saturday Oct 27. Downtown Gravenhurst becomes Spook-tacular the last Saturday before Halloween. The Gravenhurst BIA businesses and merchants open their doors to costumed trick or treaters by decorating with orange and black balloons. Live entertainment and games are set up at the Gravenhurst Opera House,  a 1,000 pound pumpkin is carved before your eyes and families are offered a free venue during daylight house to enjoy Halloween.

PARANORMAL MUSKOKA TOUR AT WOODCHESTER VILL
Saturday Oct 27. Join Paranormal Muskoka at Bracebridge’s octagonal house for a night of ghostly fun! Spook your interest in the history surrounding Woodchester and its previous owners, the Bird family, all the while learning about spirits, orbs, and EMF monitors. 7-8:30 p.m. To ensure there are no time delays please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start time.

ORILLIA SILVER BAND FALL HARVEST
Sunday Oct 28. Enjoy a Sunday afternoon concert, 2:00 at the Gravenhurst Opera House. Formed in 1949 as a British-style brass band, the 34-member Orillia Silver Band performs an entertaining program from Bach to Bacharach, Sousa to the Beatles, and Vaughn-Williams to John Williams (Star Wars, Superman). The Band has been conduct for the past five years by Neil Barlow, well known in Muskoka for the musicals he directs every season and appearances on the Gravenhurst Barge with the Muskoka Concert Band. www.orilliasilverband.com

UMPTEENTH ANNUAL GREAT PUMPKIN TRAIL
Wednesday Oct 31. This annual Community Event is a great alternative to having your children go door to door through busy streets in traffic, in the dark. Held in the Pioneer Village within the gates of Muskoka Heritage Place, this traffic free and youngster driven Hallowe’en event proves as much of a social event for the parents as it is for the kids. The buildings are decorated and costumed volunteers are handing out candy. The path is lit lit with moonlights but if you have very young ones and wish to keep the experience even lighter, you might consider coming early, before 6:30 p.m. nightfall.

HALLOWEEN MINI GOLF & TRICK-OR-TREATING
Wednesday Oct 31.  Enjoy trick-or-treating and mini golf from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Muskoka Mini Golf in Bracebridge. To Mini Golf for free, come in costume orbring a donation for the Food Bank or SPCA. The first 100 trick-or-treaters will receive some special goodies!

MUSKOKA LAKES CHRISTMAS MARKET
Saturday Nov 3. Dozens of vendors of one-of-a-kind gifts waiting for you, along with foodie goodies you can enjoy right now. Many farmers’ market vendors will be there. At the Port Carling Community Centre, 10 am to 4 p.m.
